A native of Moscow, Idaho, I began guiding on the Salmon in 1999. In an effort to delay higher education, in 2001 a friend and I rode our bikes 3,000 miles on an adventure tour of the western U.S. I also was able to enjoy the summer of 2002 as an adventure/kayak guide in Kauai. My love of good food and my handymanness landed me a job as the facilities manager at the Moscow Food Co-op for the last 7 years. Now as the new owner of Exodus, I am excited to share my love of the river with new friends and old alike. I enjoy teaching our two daughters about boats and gear and reading the current.
Yes, I am married to Bill (for the last 13 years :-) I am privileged to be the momma of two amazing girls ages 12 and 9. I have lived in Idaho and Colorado my whole life. I love the mountains and rivers (specifically, playing in the water). The Salmon and the Snake hold some of the best memories of my childhood. In high school and college I was trained as a machinist and welder and now use my manufacturing skills to make natural toothpaste and deodorant in my own business. Never would've thought! I am excited to be a part of Exodus, both as a guide and business manager.
I’ve loved spending time in wild places for as long as I can remember. Many of my fondest memories from my childhood are of fishing/backpacking trips in the mountains of Wyoming and Montana with my dad and brothers. I was properly introduced to whitewater adventuring after my family relocated to central Idaho, home of such legendary rivers as the Snake, Salmon, Clearwater, and the Lochsa. I feel privileged and blessed to have been able to enjoy the wild places of the American West my whole life, and it is a joy for me to get to share this special space with others whether they are old veterans themselves or experiencing it for the very first time.
I grew up in the mountains of central Idaho. With a logger for a dad, I had lots of opportunities to explore and discover the abundance of God's special creation I was privileged to call home. I learned to row a raft under the tutelage of my older brother about 20 years ago, and still have yet to satisfy my craving for whitewater and river memories. My wife Jill and I have been married for 18 years and have four amazing children. We both graduated from the University of Idaho and spend most of our time serving and ministering at our local church in Moscow, Idaho
Anna Landis is first and foremost a wife and mother. She has been married to Jesse for 15 years and five wild and scenic children have flowed from their lives (Simeon, Camille, Avery, Ruby and Angus). Before married life, Anna received a B.A. in Outdoor Rec from George Fox University in Oregon, led and supported several youth camps, and served in Christian youth ministry programs. Although her day job is quite demanding, raising five children, Anna is finding time to join the Exodus team to share her love of the river. She has a deep love and history with rivers that goes back to growing up on the Rogue and Applegate Rivers in Oregon and then later guiding the Deschutes, John Day, Klamath and now here on the Idaho Salmon. If you don't see her on the water this summer she will probably be finishing up a house the Landis family is building in Moscow ID, tending her large garden, leading one of our little ones through a math lesson or polishing her Rec. Director skills for our family in the NW outdoors.
