TRIP OVERVIEW

The Lower Salmon River trip is an unparalleled blend of adventure and relaxation, offering a deep dive into one of America's most magnificent wilderness canyons. Picture yourself rafting through the deep gorges, where the clear, blue-green waters of the Salmon River carve their way past towering basalt cliffs and rolling, arid hills. The whitewater action—a perfect mix of exciting Class II and III rapids (sometimes Class IV at higher water earlier in the season)—provides exhilarating splashes and heart-pounding moments without being overly intimidating, making it ideal for families and first-time rafters.

Evenings are spent in stunning isolation, camping on expansive, pristine white sand beaches that feel like a tropical escape in the heart of Idaho. Here, under a vast, star-filled sky free from light pollution, you'll enjoy gourmet meals prepared by your guides, share stories around a crackling campfire, and drift off to sleep to the gentle sound of the river flowing by. The warm water and hot summer days also invite refreshing swims, side-canyon hikes to explore ancient history and hot springs, and ample time simply to float and soak up the canyon's timeless beauty. This trip isn't just a river run; it's a multi-sensory adventure and a true digital detox.

All trips include professional, certified guides who provide detailed safety instructions. All guides have Swiftwater Rescue, CPR/First Aid, and Trauma Aid training. High-quality life jackets (PFDs) are mandatory and provided for all participants. The rapids encountered are generally considered intermediate, offering a perfect balance of excitement and safety.

"The complete experience!"

"The complete experience! All the people were accommodating and professional! By the end of the trip, you have made new friends! A very memorable adventure!"

– Kathy Richins Mitchell

"and we all had a blast"

"Exodus Rafting is the best company to use for your family's rafting adventure on the Salmon River. We took 7 adults and 7 grandkids and we all had a blast. The grandkids were all in Bill's boat and they loved all of the activities he did with them - riding the bull, swimming some rapids, cliff diving, and memorizing the names of all the rapids they ran."

– Reed Brown
